Drivers will be left facing a 35-mile diversion route while a town centre road is closed overnight.
Anglian Water will be carrying out urgent works in Gainsborough Street in Sudbury between 8pm on Tuesday, March 26 until 5am on Wednesday, March 27.
According to the Suffolk County Council website the official diversion route is 35 miles long.
The diversion route is long as it takes drivers along A roads because some vehicles like HGV's cannot go down smaller roads that others would use as shortcuts.
It comes as drivers face a 20-mile diversion for a road closure just outside of Sudbury.
The B1071, which is the main road that connects Sudbury and Lavenham, will be closed between 7pm and 5am from March 25 to 28 while Suffolk Highways carries out urgent roadworks.
