Two popular farm shops in Suffolk have been named among the best in the UK after they were shortlisted for awards.

Friday Street Farm in Saxmundham and Alder Carr Farm in Needham Market have been shortlisted at the Farm Shop & Deli Show Retailer Awards 2024. 

Alder Carr Farm was recently named the best farm shop at the Farm Retail Association awards.

The family-run business has been passed down through the generations after it was originally first opened in 1981 by Nick and Joan Hardingham. 

Friday Street Farm, between Saxmundham in Aldeburgh, will be expanding the much-loved business after plans to create a drive-thru cafe were approved earlier this year. 

Judge Matt Whelan, managing director of Fieldfare which champions the Retailer Awards, said: “We are delighted to champion the Farm Shop & Deli Show Retailer Awards. What a great experience to be a member of the judging panel. 

"Having the opportunity to see so many fantastic independent retailers, reviewing the many approaches they take to delivering a wonderful experience for their shoppers, was both a pleasure and challenge."
