Property company Jaynic has denied there are any immediate plans for residential development on current farmland off Barretts Lane, Needham Market, following public outcry.
Jaynic owns 50% of the freehold ownership of the site and has been appointed land promoter by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), which owns the other half.
News of the sale and a statement on their website saying, “working together we are promoting the land for residential development”, prompted fury from local residents.
Concerns were raised on Facebook, with residents fearing for the impact on wildlife, as well as the effect more homes would have on the town's existing infrastructure.
Andrew Anderson, director of Jaynic, said: “Part of Jaynic’s business is promoting land for residential development and this land at Needham Market is a strategic landholding which may have future development potential. However there are no plans for this in the immediate future and the land is farmed.”
Jaynic is focused on land promotion and business space development, with previous projects including Suffolk Park in Bury St Edmunds.
