The tenants of a much-loved east Suffolk pub have announced that they will be moving away as the property's lease goes on the market.

Clement Sigaut and Rebecca Murland have run The Sorrel Horse in Shottisham, south of Woodbridge, for several years but announced this week that they are looking to hand over the reins.

"We've been in the UK for 10 years now, with three years at The Sorrel Horse, and Clement is ready to relocate back to France," said Ms Murland.

"It hasn't been an easy decision but we decided that we wanted to go while the girls were still young enough. 

"We have thoroughly enjoyed our time and are proud of what we have achieved, but it is time to move on to our next venture and hope that the person who takes it on continues our food legacy.

"We are selling the lease, which has 15 years remaining, at £50,000.

"The pub thrives in the summer so we would probably be looking for someone to take it on from April onwards so they don't miss the start of the summer season.

"It has been a big decision but I think it is the right one for us as a family."

The traditional pub is located on the road between Woodbridge and Shingle Street and has a large garden and converted barn used for pizza events on site.

The team will be hosting an open house for those interested in taking the reins of The Sorrel Horse on Sunday, March 3 between 2pm and 4pm.
