An 80-year-old man has died during a crash which closed a major road for a number of hours.
Emergency services were called to the A120 in Braintree at about 3.45am on Thursday to reports of a single-vehicle crash.
A spokesman for Essex Police has confirmed that an 80-year-old man died at the scene.
The road, which is a main route to Stansted Airport, was closed in both directions for a number of hours.
It has since reopened, police have confirmed.
The spokesman thanked drivers for their patience while an investigation was carried out by officers.
