A man was seriously injured during a single-vehicle crash.
Emergency services were called to the A134 Nayland Road in Great Horkesley, near Sudbury, at about 8.45pm on Tuesday.
A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, a spokesman for Essex Police said.
The road was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Essex Police ,quoting the incident number 1102 of February 27.
