There are still concerns about flooding in parts of Suffolk after areas of the county were submerged following heavy rainfall last week. 

Five flood alerts issued by the Environment Agency remain in place including the River Waveney, Little Ouse River, River Thet as well as groundwater flooding in Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.

Flooding is also possible in Brandon, Beccles, Bungay and Lowestoft. 

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "Minor flooding to low-lying land, roads and riverside areas is likely today.

"Take care on riverside footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate."

It comes after Suffolk was hit by torrential downpours which left a number of roads flooded last week. 

The Met Office has said brighter spells are forecast for the county for the rest of this week. 

From Wednesday to Friday the weather is expected to be cloudy and largely dry with some light rain at times. 

Temperatures will be around average for the time of year.
