When he returned his wife was gone.
She had left her phone, car keys and jewellery at her home on Fredericks Road and is thought to have been wearing a cream-knitted dress and a silver coat.
Her good friend and hairdresser, Kirsty Woolnough, had cut Mrs Cook's hair that morning.
She said: "We are all just in shock and so worried and really confused as nobody knows why she took off.
"I never expected to have to be helping the family of a good friend of mine looking for her when I cut her hair this morning.
"But when I was doing her hair this morning she was acting as though everything was fine but I did think she seemed a bit numb and emotionless and beneath the surface maybe not her normal self," Mrs Woolnough said.

"I have been helping her husband James and other people all night looking for her, they have been canoeing around the river and looking everywhere.
"If anyone has seen her or has any information please reach out."
Mrs Cook's husband owns PCE Automation Ltd on the Ellough Industrial Estate.
