A woman is in a critical condition after suffering serious injuries in a crash on the A12.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the collision in Yoxford, between Middleton Road and Westleton Road, at about 4.10pm on Thursday.
A bronze-coloured BMW X1 and a silver Volkswagen Golf were involved in the crash.
The driver of the Golf – a woman aged in her 60s – was initially taken to James Paget Hospital via land ambulance but was later transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the BMW, a man in his 70s, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he failed a roadside drugs wipe test for suspected cannabis.
He was taken to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution, a spokeswoman for Suffolk police said.
Police closed the A12 in both directions while a collision investigation and recovery work was carried out.
Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Suffolk police quoting incident number 202 of February 22.
