A new luxury dog groomer is set to open in a village near Ipswich soon.

Michelle Sweeney, who previously worked as a hairdresser, has always wanted to own a dog grooming business.

"It's a dream come true and it's nicer to work for yourself," she said.

Ms Sweeney described the new business, called George's Groom Room, as a luxury salon for dogs – offering a grooming service alongside other treatments such as blueberry facials and colour on nails and tails.

The name was inspired by Ms Sweeney's own dog, called George.

"I'd like to help rescue centres with their dogs that need rehoming," said Ms Sweeney.

"I also specialise in curly coats which includes breeds like the poodles and cockapoos."

George's Groom Room will be located on The Street in Bramford, opposite the Bramford Cock pub just outside of Ipswich.

The business is hoping to be open by the end of March, Ms Sweeney confirmed.
