A new job club is set to begin in Felixstowe next week to offer help and support to those seeking work.
The project, run by The Salvation Army, will bring together employers and local organisations to offer CV advice, IT training, and interview preparation to jobseekers.
The initiative was formed after a local job centre approached the Christian church about the gaps in support available for those who are unemployed.
Captain Paul Williams said: “Local employers don’t foresee having many vacancies available this year so we want people to be as skilled and ready as they can be in a supportive community where people can grow in confidence in their own ability.”
It is also hoped the club will offer a social space for people looking for work to make friends and get to know each other.
Williams said: “Meeting other people who are out of work can be really valuable when you are trying to find a job yourself because they understand what you are going through and can support you along the way.”
The job club will meet every Wednesday from February 28 from 10am to 12pm at The Salvation Army, Cobbold Road, Felixstowe.
