A pub in a Suffolk market town has installed CCTV cameras in its toilets to "promote customer and staff safety".
The Grover & Allen pub, a Wetherspoon venue in North Street in Sudbury, has had the cameras installed inside the men's toilets.
Eddie Gershon, a spokesman for Wetherspoon, said the cameras in the loos are not directed towards the urinals or cubicles.
He said: "CCTV covers the communal sink areas only of the toilets at the pub.
“The cameras do not cover urinals or cubicles.
“The decision to install the cameras was taken to promote customer and staff safety.
“It augments the existing CCTV system in the rest of the pub which is in place for the same reason.”
Several other Wetherspoons pubs across the country have previously installed CCTV cameras in their toilets.
There is currently no law preventing hospitality establishments, such as pubs or restaurants, from installing CCTV in toilets.
