People living in a village on the outskirts of Ipswich are being faced with a 15 mile diversion while roadworks are carried out.
Mow Hill, in Witnesham, is to close on Monday, February 19, for 10 days while is essential work is carried out.
Denbury Homes has confirmed new sewer and electricity connections will be installed to their Witten's Meadow development in the village.
The official diversion route states drivers should travel 15 miles through Kesgrave, along the A12 and the B1079 to get from one end of the village to the other.
Nick Holmes, director of operations for Denbury Homes, said: "In line with requests from the Parish Council and residents, we have instructed weekend working to speed up works and further minimise the period of closure.
"There will be some disruption to road users, and we apologise for the inconvenience.
"We are in touch with the residents who will be most affected by the closure, they will have access to their homes at all times."
