A Member of Parliament for Suffolk has been sanctioned by the Russian government.
James Cartlidge, MP for South Suffolk, is among 18 British nationals who have been named on the list for what they claim was the "exacerbation of anti-Russian sentiment".
The MP's name was listed on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MFA) website this afternoon.
In the statement, it says the Minister of State for Defence Procurement will be banned from entering Russia as a result of the sanction.
The MFA said it will continue to expand the Russian stop list "in response to London's hostile actions".
A statement from Russia’s foreign ministry said: “We are forced to state that Russophobically charged British representatives do not shy away trying to discredit the constitutional system and socio-political processes in our country.
“The so-called brain trusts operating on the basis of the largest British and Western educational institutions make a significant contribution to the subversive work of London in the Russian direction.”
