Police have been called to the A14 following reports a dog had been hit by a vehicle.
Officers were called to the westbound carriageway near Newmarket at about 8.30am on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers received calls that two dogs were running along the westbound carriageway and one of them was then hit.
On arrival officers could not find the dogs, the spokesman added.
