Tacos could soon be on the menu in Bury St Edmunds, with a prominent Suffolk chef and former MasterChef contestant revealing plans for a new restaurant.

Hannah Gregory is hoping to open her own taqueria 'Tacor', behind The Beerhouse in Tayfen Road.

After being approached by the landlord, Ms Gregory has launched her own Kickstarter campaign to be able to fit out the space and start the project.

"It is a long time planning in the sense that it has always been a dream. It has kind of been in the back of my head," she said.

The restaurant will replace the outgoing Pizza Shed, which is currently based in the unit.

Ms Gregory was approached by the landlord after she was recommended to him.

"It was all a very abrupt and quick conversation," continued the former MasterChef contestant, having reached the quarter-final in 2020.

"The creative bit is kind of steam-rolling ahead and I need to remind myself that I need to fund it before I can start the shopping."

As part of her hopes to open the restaurant, Ms Gregory has started her own Kickstarter campaign to raise funds.

She is hoping to collate £25,000 in order for the restaurant to become a reality.

After launching her campaign on Monday, she has already raised around £6,500 - 27 per cent of her target.

Ms Gregory added: "It has gone really well. I am absolutely blown away by the response, but I am also aware this has probably been the easy bit.

"It's all your friends, family and customers bidding now. Now the real hard work starts because I have got to get it out to as many people as possible."
