Five men have been charged with drug offences as part of a police operation in Ipswich. 

Last Thursday, officers from Suffolk police arrested and subsequently charged four men with a series of drug offences in the town.

A fifth man had been arrested and charged in December.

Police stopped a vehicle in Ipswich last Thursday and had reason to search the two men inside. 

The officers located an amount of suspected class A drugs on the pair, with both men arrested and taken Martlesham police investigation centre for questioning.

They were charged and appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, February 3.

James Tibbenham, 34 and of Rotterdam Road in Lowestoft, was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He was bailed by the court to appear at Ipswich Crown Court, with the date not yet confirmed.

Edward Bishop, 32 and of Beech Road in Rushmere St Andrew, was charged with possession of class A drugs and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He was remanded by the court to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

Dashaun Campbell, 34, of Gowers Close, Kesgrave, was also arrested last Thursday and taken to Martlesham police investigation centre.

He was charged with being concerned in supplying a controlled drug and appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court last Saturday, where he was bailed to appear at Ipswich Crown Court.

The date of his next appearance is yet to be confirmed.

Max Sinclair, 26 and of Chapel Street North in Colchester, was also arrested last Thursday on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Sinclair appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with conspiring to supply cocaine, conspiring to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply cocaine and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.

He was remanded by the court to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

As part of the same operation, on Friday, December 8, Tawfiq Mohammed, 22 and of Hungerdown in London, was arrested in Ipswich.

He was charged with bringing, throwing or conveying a prohibited article into or out of a prison, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, concerned in the supply of heroin, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Mohammed was remanded to appear at Ipswich Crown Court, with the date of his next appearance to be confirmed.
