Colder days are expected for Suffolk later this week as temperatures are expected to plunge below average for the time of year. 

Cold air from the north will cause temperatures to drop on Wednesday, with the Met Office predicting lows of 3C and highs of 7C.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of the country for snow from 3am on Thursday until 3am on Friday, but Suffolk is not included under the warning.

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Chris Almond said: "While the early part of this week will see some rain, at times heavy, gradually sinking southwards, there's an increased signal for wintry hazards as we move through the week as cold air from the north moves over the UK.

"It's from Thursday that the snow risk becomes more potentially impactful, as mild air attempts to move back in from the south, bumping into the cold air and increasing the chance of snow developing on the leading edge.

"This snow will likely gradually transition to sleet and rain later from the south."

The Met Office has said weather warnings will be issued and amended throughout the week as the weather situation develops. 

Colder conditions and more scattered wintry showers will spread south across most parts of the UK including Suffolk over the weekend with sunshine and frosty nights expected. 

Over the weekend temperatures in Suffolk will reach highs of 7C, but temperatures could feel much colder at around 1C.
