A Mid Suffolk pre-school is set to have refurbishments made to prolong the use of its temporary building, while its search for a permanent site continues.
Norton Pre-school, in the village of Norton, near Bury St Edmunds, is set to remain in its current building for up to seven years, following planning approval from Mid Suffolk District Council on Wednesday, January 24.
According to application documents, the building has remained unchanged since its installation around 20 years ago, when it was put under temporary building permission, which has been extended over the years and currently due to expire in March.
The school applied for continued use of land for another seven years, along with works to improve thermal efficiency and improve the building, currently on Ixworth Road, while the committee of trustees fundraises for a permanent premises.
Planned works will include timber battens on outside walls with insulation boards, breather membrane, seals around doors, and new guttering and downpipes.
The school offers childcare and early education for children aged two to five years old, as well as breakfast and after-school clubs for children at the nearby Norton CEVC Primary School.
