A hit east Suffolk gastropub has been named the best in the country for the second time in three years.
The Unruly Pig, in Bromeswell near Woodbridge, has several accolades to its name, having been named 'best pub' in the GQ Magazine Food and Drink Awards 2023 and placing in 77th position in the National Restaurant Awards 2023.
Now, the venue has been named the best gastropub in the UK by Estrella Damm at its prestigious national awards ceremony, which was held at The Parker's Arms in Lancashire on Monday.
The pub has hit the top spot before in 2022 but came in second place in the 2023 awards last January.
Chef patron Dave Wall said: "This is another great accolade for Suffolk and for Team Unruly.
"Every pub in this prestigious list are serious and talented operators – we were therefore in auspicious company and very lucky to even make the cut.
"To win the number one slot however is an astonishing privilege and a highlight of my career.
"It means so very much because it is our peers who vote for these awards, and I am humbled by their generosity and kindness in voting for us."

Owner Brendan Padfield said: "Our team at The Unruly Pig makes me proud every day but it is their sheer hard work, dedication, loyalty, and attention to detail that seems to make the difference.
"These are troubled times for the hospitality: Brexit and the cost-of-living crisis continue to adversely impact every single day, so this is a remarkable, timely and so well-deserved shot in the arm for Team Unruly.
"They have made an old man so proud and so happy… and, in truth, a little weepy."
The team announced the news on their social media channels on Monday in a post that read: "Life is full of surprises, but we really didn't see this one coming! Wow, wow, wow..."
The Unruly Pig is open for lunch and dinner service seven days a week and tables can be booked via their website.
