Last week, a cold weather alert was extended further until Friday, January 19 - two weeks after the first of the freezing weather hit.
According to the Met Office, key towns including Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich are expected to record air temperatures of around -3C tonight, with more rural areas likely to experience even colder weather.
Suffolk Highways have confirmed that, with road temperatures set to drop below -5C this evening, gritters will be on major roads from 6.30pm and smaller routes from 9pm today.
Gritters will head back around the top priority routes at 4.30am tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16.
According to the UKHSA and the Met Office, an amber alert means that cold weather impacts are likely to be felt across the whole health service for an extended period, with the potential for the whole population to be at risk.
