A cold weather alert for Suffolk has been extended for a third time.
The UK Health Security Agency first issued a cold-health alert for the region on Friday, January 5, and it was due to be in place until Tuesday, January 9.
However, it was then extended until Friday, January 12.
It has now been extended for a third time, this time until midday on Friday, January 18.
Temperatures are expected to get even colder next week, with the possibility of snow and disruptive weather in some areas.
Dr Agostinho Sousa, head of extreme events and health protection at UKHSA, said: "The temperatures we will see leading into the weekend can rapidly have a serious impact on the health of those over the age of 65 and those with pre-existing health conditions as it increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and chest infections.
"It therefore vital to check in on friends, family and neighbours to ensure they are well prepared for the cold weather next week."
