Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy was in the town centre yesterday for the grand opening of an Ipswich barbershop – and said he will soon be stopping by for his next haircut.
Monday will be the first day of business for HairLuzz in St Nicholas Street.
Owner Joe Raham was joined for an opening party on Sunday by the Blues star, as well as mayor of Ipswich Lynne Mortimer, Ipswich borough councillor Ruman Muhith and many supportive friends and family members.
Mr Raham has been cutting hair in Ipswich for several years, but proudly said that he felt the time was right to open his own barbershop.
He will be offering haircuts, with the facilities to wash hair, wet shaves, hot towel shaves, ear and nose waxing, facial steams, face masks such as clay masks, massages and plenty more treatments besides.
He has cut the hair of several Town players, including Morsy, Gassan Ahadme and Tete Yengi prior to his departure.
However, he said that he was most excited to serve the people of Ipswich.
“My customers are my celebrities,” said Mr Raham. “They are the ones who have supported me all the way.”
Morsy said: “Joe has been cutting my hair for a few years now, ever since I moved to Ipswich. I’m really happy for him – he's a great guy, really professional, and this is obviously brilliant news for his business.
“This is a proud moment for him, as a Bangladeshi man opening his own shop. It’s great for the community, too. We need to keep celebrating local people.”
He said that he would be sure to come to HairLuzz for his next haircut.
Mr Muhith said: “It is an honour and a humbling experience to stand alongside the mayor of Ipswich and Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy as we inaugurate HairLuzz in St Nicholas Street.
“Barbers and entrepreneurs like Joe, with years of dedicated service in Ipswich, contribute positively to our town's economic growth and social fabric.
"His journey from skilled barber to owning HairLuzz is a testament to the honest, diligent, and much-needed trade of barbering.
“So long as not everyone in Ipswich is bald, we will always need hairdressers and barbers!”
