The past year has been fantastic for Suffolk, with plenty having happened in 2023.
However, 2024 is gearing up to be an even better year and here are five things that you can look forward to.
1. A14 roadworks will finally be completed
Let's get the easy one out of the way, shall we?
While the outcome will prove to be a benefit for Suffolk drivers, the A14 roadworks in mid Suffolk have been an immense frustration for day-to-day users.
The Haughley to Tot Hill reconstruction scheme started in early 2023, and is set to cost National Highways £37million.
It reached the halfway stage in October, but is not set to completed until the end of summer 2024.
2. Primark opening in Bury St Edmunds
The highly-anticipated opening of Primark in Bury St Edmunds will take place in 2024.
Plans were given the go-ahead for the fashion retailers to open in the arc Shopping Centre, inside the former Debenhams, in November 2022.
There had been hopes it would open by the end of 2023, however it is now set to open in March 2024.
3. Latitude Festival 2024
Latitude Festival always proves to be one of the highlights of the year in the Suffolk calendar, and 2024 will be no different.
The festival, at Henham Park in east Suffolk, will welcome global giants to its stage in July 204, including Duran Duran, Kasabian, Keane, London Grammar, Rag N Bone Man and Rick Astley.
4. Huge names come to Ipswich Regent Theatre
Latitude is not the only venue attracting huge names and performances in 2024.
From West Ends shows to major comedians such as Romesh Ranganathan, John Bishop and John Bishop, Ipwich Regent Theatre is looking forward to a star-studded year.
5. Suffolk Day 2024
Suffolk Day is always a day in the calendar to look forward to.
June 21 is an occasion to celebrate all things to do with our amazing county and the people that live here.
