A village road is to partially reopen after a "nightmare" month following its collapse.
The Street in Aldham, in mid Suffolk, has been shut since November 20 after part of the road gave way.
It was due to reopen on December 19, but remains closed to the public.
While Suffolk Highways has confirmed it is to reopen to "light traffic as soon as possible", one resident has questioned the communication to villagers from Suffolk Highways.
"It is over four weeks now, why can they not give us any idea? We have had nothing," said Jenni Green, who has lived in Aldham for 47 years.
"We know the road is too dangerous to be open but there is nothing from Highways. You can't get through to them."
According to Mrs Green, a fire engine travelling on blue lights had to turn around due to them being unaware the road was shut.
The Aldham resident is hoping the road can reopen to traffic before Christmas Day.
Mrs Green added: "If they can open it up in time for Christmas it would relieve a lot of hardship for people.
"It is becoming a nightmare."
A spokesman for Suffolk Highways said: "Suffolk Highways is planning to re-open the road to light traffic only, as soon as possible. However, the diversion route will remain in place for HGVs.
"We hope that this should alleviate any disruption. Further investigations are required to determine the full extent of the damage."
