A warning has been issued after fake Taylor Swift tickets were spotted being sold on Facebook and social media sites.

The American pop sensation is due to embark on a worldwide tour next year, including 10 dates in stadiums across the UK.

Her popularity has led to scammers try to re-sell fake tickets on social media, claiming they had "panic bought" them.

Suffolk Trading Standards has issued a warning to people in the county after spotting the scam in a number of Facebook groups, including in Ipswich.

A spokesman for the authority said: "We are seeing scam posts across Facebook from fraudsters posing as individuals selling tickets for the June and August 2024 Taylor Swift concerts.

"Posts indicate that they have spare tickets that were 'panic bought' or they now have 'conflicting commitments'. All posts ask you to private message the seller.

"Please report posts to the admin of the group to have the post removed and individual blocked."

The spokesman added people should only purchase resell tickets from official websites.
