A much-loved convenience store in a Suffolk village has been sold after the owners announced their retirement.
Simon Barrett who owns Budgens in Long Melford near Sudbury with his daughter Francesca Rogers made the decison to retire after six years running the business.
The shop is in a historic building on the main road and is very popular with local residents.
Mr Barrettsaid: "After nearly six years of running and operating this store, we decided to make the difficult decision to sell.
"I would like to take the opportunity to say a huge thanks to all you wonderful lot who have shopped and supported us over the past six years, it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know and serve so many of you.
"Thank you also to all the staff past and present, as well as the local suppliers, they have all been a huge part of shaping the shop and I couldn’t be more grateful for working alongside such incredible people."
Property agents Christie and Co handled the sale of the business.
