Three bungalows could be built on land behind an existing home on a town's high street if plans submitted to a council are given the go-ahead.
Proposals for land behind Ashley, in Long Melford High Street, were lodged with Babergh District Council on November 28.
The plans include three bungalows, two with two bedrooms and one with three bedrooms, in the 'underused' private garden of the home.
The homes would be complete with a new vehicular access joining the plots to the main road through the village.
Ashley is not a listed building, but it is adjacent to a conservation area on the opposite side of the road.
A statement to the council on behalf of applicant Mr M Cadge said: "The proposal seeks to enhance the appearance and visual amenity of the area whilst providing modern and efficient homes for the buyers long term future, making best use of this under-used ‘brown-field’ site."
The walls of the homes would be red brick and the roofs would be of Spanish slate.
The plans are with Babergh District Council awaiting a decision.
