A suspected drug driver who was arrested after a serious crash that closed the A14 for a number of hours has been released. 

Emergency services, including two air ambulances, were called to the two-vehicle crash in the eastbound carriageway at about 6.45am on Monday. 

The A14 was closed in both directions for a number of hours while investigations were carried out. 

A man was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge by road ambulance with serious injuries.

Officers arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of drug driving, a spokesman for Suffolk police confirmed. 

Police has since confirmed he has been released under investigation.
