A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a police officer was hit by a car in Newmarket.
The crash happened at about 2.45am on Sunday in The Avenue, when a vehicle hit a police officer and a driver failed to stop at the scene.
The female officer was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries where she remains.
On Monday, police arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He was taken to Bury St Edmunds police station for questioning and was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Officers would still like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are also appealing for any motorists driving in the area at the time with a dashcam in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from three people seen on foot in the Avenue at the time, who are believed to be witnesses.
