A road in a Suffolk town remains closed after a huge sinkhole appeared.

Fairfield Hill in Stowmarket is still shut after a bin lorry got stuck in a sinkhole that appeared in the road on Monday.

Police were called to close the road at about 8am on Monday to reports of the road giving way.

Pictures posted on social media showed the back wheel of a bin lorry stuck in the sinkhole that was one metre by one metre and around one metre deep.

On Monday Suffolk Highways put an emergency road closure in place to allow for the road to be fixed.

Although the roadworks are complete and the bin lorry has been recovered the road remains closed by Suffolk Highways.
