A former Felixstowe drug dealer who was arrested after police found bags containing a total of more than 30g of cocaine in a bedroom during a raid has been jailed for seven years.

Before Ipswich Crown Court on Monday (November 6) was Savalas Rous who was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of cocaine between March 27 and April 21 2020 after a trial last month. He had denied the charge.

During his trial, the court heard that Rous, of Talbot Road, Harwich, was in bed with a woman when police entered a property in Victoria Mews, Colchester in April 2020.

Officers found three bags containing a total of 30g of cocaine in a metal tin in the bedroom as well as a total of £500 cash.

In a second bedroom, which was used by another man who has admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply, police found a bag of white powder containing 6.75g of cocaine in a bedside cabinet.

The court heard that the woman who was in bed with Rous had admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis.

Gareth Hughes, prosecuting, said the 25-year-old has two previous convictions for possessing cocaine with intent to supply cocaine in 2017 and 2018.

He said the 2017 conviction related to him being found with nine wraps of cocaine and five of heroin in Felixstowe in 2015.

Sentencing Rous, Recorder Emma Nash said that when he committed the latest offence he was aware that he ran the risk of a minimum sentence of seven years for his third offence of being involved in class A drug dealing.

Sacha Bailey for Rous said he had two young children and his life had moved on considerably since his arrest.
