Work has begun at the site of a new health club set to be built on the edge of Bury St Edmunds.
David Lloyd Leisure Ltd was granted permission from West Suffolk Council for a reserved matters application at the 2.01 hectare site off Sandlands Drive, at Marham Park, in June.
Plans, which were submitted in February, include the creation of a health, fitness and racquets club with a tennis dome enclosure and three tennis courts.
There will also be a Battle Box area, padel courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym and studio facilities, as well as a spa and children's soft play area.
The plans include a total of 225 car parking spaces and 20 cycle spaces.
The Bury St Edmunds Society, Fornham St Martin cum St Genevieve Parish Council, and several neighbours voiced support for the plans.
On Tuesday, a West Suffolk Council spokesperson confirmed work has officially started on the project.
Residents have also seen construction workers and machinery appear at the site.
The Marham Park Bury St Edmunds David Lloyd health club is set to open in 2024.
