A number of flood alerts remain in place for Suffolk this morning. 

The Environment Agency has issued the alerts for many coastal areas including Felixstowe, Leiston and Southwold. 

Some inland areas are also at risk of flooding including Ipswich, Woodbridge and Kesgrave. 

The Environment Agency has warned that some homes could flood in Felixstowe, where a more severe flood warning has been issued. 

It comes after 10 flood alerts were issued for the county yesterday after a weekend of heavy rain. 

A weather warning for strong winds and heavy rainfall was issued by the Met Office between midnight and 6pm on Thursday, November 2.

However, this has now been extended to 9pm on Wednesday, November 1, until midnight on Thursday. 

Winds of 60mph have been predicted for the coastal areas at around 5am on Thursday.

The Met Office has warned that these winds could be potentially damaging and said that there is a small chance that roads, bridges and railway lines could close, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights.

The Environment Agency warns people to avoid using low-lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.

It did not say for how long the alert would be in place.
