A Suffolk pub group has announced it will be taking over a town centre restaurant.
Gusto Pronto, which is owned by David and Roxane Marjoram, has added Damson & Wilde in Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds to its cohort of the pubs.
The chain currently has five pubs under its umbrella, as well as a wine shop in Bury and its own brewery.
Damson & Wilde will become the sixth pub to join the group after the pair were approached by the City Pub Group, which opened the Abbeygate Street premises in September 2022.
The building was previously home to Café Rouge before it shut.
"When offered the opportunity to add Damson & Wilde to our established hospitality group, we jumped at the chance," said Mr and Mrs Marjoram in a statement.
"We’ve always loved the building at 59 Abbeygate Street.
"Originally built by John Corder for The Sun Alliance Assurance Company in 1891, it first became a hospitality venue when Café Rouge came into Bury St Edmunds in the 1990s – one of the first chain restaurants to hit the town.
"We’re taking the reins from mid-November and you will immediately see the Gusto hospitality you know and love."
Current menus will remain in place until the new year, before new food options will be available.
Vouchers for Damson & Wilde will be honoured.
The pair added: "We can’t wait to share this new chapter for 59 Abbeygate St with you and look forward to seeing you soon."
