Plans for six new homes in a village on the outskirts of Ipswich have been refused by the council on the grounds that it is 'not considered appropriate in location'.
Babergh District Council refused the plans to build six new homes in Shotley, near Ipswich, just to the south of Gate Farm Road.
The plans, which were submitted in August, received 17 public comments, with 16 of those objecting to the plans.
One stated: "The quiet nature of the close, layout and garden sizes are what drew us to the area."
Another said that the area does not need six extra houses, stating there will be "too many houses in Shotley" when the 303-house development is completed on the former HMS Granges site.
Babergh council refused the plans on October 13, with the decision statement saying that the plans are "located outside the settlement boundary of Shotley, failing to accord with developments permitted in the countryside".
The proposed site is also located within the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, another reason for the refusal.
