A person had to be rescued from their electric car after it cut out in rising water.
Firefighters were called to The Strood in Mersea at 1.10am on Sunday to reports that a car had become stuck in the rising water.
Watch manager Ian Ryder said: "The car was an electric vehicle and because of this all the systems cut out as the tidal water began to surround it.
"Driving through flood water or tidal water is not worth the risk - it's dangerous for both you and your vehicle."
The driver was rescued from the car and a 'stop' call was made at 2am by the fire service.
