Temporary speed restrictions have been introduced on a road connecting two Suffolk towns - and will be in place for the next eight months.

The speed limit on the A143 between Litle Wratting, near Haverhill, and Barnardiston, has been reduced from 60mph to 30mph.

Restrictions will be in place from today (October 11) until June 21, 2024, according to one.network.

Works being completed by Anglian Water are the reason behind the new enforced limit.

A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "We’re building a 6.8km water pipeline between Hundon and Great Wratting, to make sure people in Suffolk have enough water for years to come.

"At the moment, our experts are carrying out archaeological digs to make sure we don’t disturb anything important when we install the new pipe.

"In order to keep our people and other road users safe during this work, we have temporarily reduced the speed limit on the A143 to 30mph until the end of the year. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this vital work to secure your water resources for the future.”
