Plans for two dozen homes in a south Suffolk village have been met with criticism from neighbours as a parish council has called for refusal.
Outline proposals put to Babergh District Council would see 24 homes built on land east of Capel Road in Bentley, on the Shotley peninsula south of Ipswich, at the site of a former small-scale fruit farm.
Eight of the homes would be affordable and public areas would also be created following the removal of exisiting site structures, including the remains of poly tunnels to the south.
The development would be accessed via Station Road, with a new route constructed taking drivers through the site, and larger properties would be built to the front to allow a transition with the rest of the village.
But in a statement to Babergh District Council, Bentley Parish Council has called for plans to be refused and said there is "no proven housing need for this scale of development" in the village.
Plans have also been unpopular with some villagers and several objection comments have been lodged with the council.
One resident said: "As a neighbour I have many issues with such an overdevelopment including: privacy, safety of young children on an already very dangerous foot path, more traffic, noise pollution, not enough facilities, the list goes on.
"I really believe that we all have a duty to protect the green spaces and our environment from such developments, we already have one recently completed 9 houses development, along with a 16 unit one yet to start and individual ones, so according to the village plans we have reached our limit."
The site is currently empty grassland with hedgerows surrounding it.
The proposed site plan includes parking, spaces for bikes and electric vehicle charging, refuse storage and two green spaces.
