Here are some of the Suffolk criminals who were jailed at Ipswich Crown Court in September.

Mark Langford

The former Suffolk teacher admitted eight offences of indeceny with a child, two offences of indecent assualt and one offence of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was made the subject of an idefinite sexual harm prevention order. 

Jason Anderson

Brandon man Jason Anderson fired a shotgun into the home of a work colleague after finding out he was seeing his ex-girlfriend, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Judge Martyn Levett said that when the shotgun was fired into the darkened living room there was a risk the victim could have been sitting on the sofa.

Anderson had previously admitted possessing a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence and unlawful wounding.

The 37-year-old, of Riverside, was jailed for four years and five months.

Neranjan Persaud and Kryzstof Bakowski

Neranjan Persaud and Kryzstof Bakowski were jailed at Ipswich Crown Court for a total of 31 years for their involvement in the illegal importation of cocaine with a street value of up to £6million.

The pair were arrested after police stopped a lorry in Colchester on December 7 last year.

They denied being knowingly involved in the illegal importation of 50kg of cocaine and being concerned in the supply of 50kg of cocaine.

Persaud also denied being concerned in the supply of just under one kilogram of cocaine.

However, both Persaud and Bakowski were convicted following a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

Persaud, 60 and of London, was described as having a pivotal role in the operation and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.

Bakowski, 63 and of no fixed address, was jailed for 14 years.

Robert Mayhew

Mayhew, of Poplar Hill in Stowmarket, admitted threatening the victim with a knife on August 13 this year.

The 39-year-old was jailed for 20 months.

He has also been banned from contacting the victim or going near the victim's home for five years. 

John Morton

The 34-year-old denied offences of assualt causing actual bodily harm and sexual assault but was found guilty after a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

In addition to jailing Morton, Judge Martyn Levett banned him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly indefinitely and ordered him to sign the sex offenders register. 

Steven Bowley

The drug dealer, of Elm Road in Thetford, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court.

The package containing the drug was found in the footwell of a Nissan Qashqai which was parked in the McDonald's car park near the Fiveways roundabout at Barton Mills. 

Bowley was jailed for four years and four months.

Christopher Steele

Christopher Steele, who raped and sexually assaulted a schoolgirl, made his victim feel like a "piece of meat", Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Steele, of Andros Close, Ipswich, was convicted after a trial in July this year of two offences of rape, assault of a child under 13 by penetration and five offences of sexual assault.

The 36-year-old was jailed for 15 years.

In addition to being jailed, Steele was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for life and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the same period. 

He was also banned from contacting the victim for life and was given an extended licence period of one year.

Simon Benterman

Simon Benterman tried to meet a decoy schoolgirl in Ipswich and was caught trying to have sex with another fictitious child by an online paedophile hunter group.

Ipswich Crown Court heard Benterman, of Apsley Road in Great Yarmouth, was snared by members of The Ghost Facebook team, with the incident captured in a livestream.

He admitted attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to meet a child following grooming, attempting to facilitate a child sex offence and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Benterman, 51, was jailed for 33 months.
