A cyclist who was injured in a crash last month has issued a plea for witnesses after an ongoing police investigation has been unable to find the driver.

Charlotte Edwards was cycling from her home in Cats Lane, Sudbury, to Kingfisher Leisure Centre on the morning of Monday, August 14.

But at about 9.20am, a crash took place between her bike and a white 4x4 vehicle at the entrance of Ernest Doe in Cornard Road.

While a Suffolk police investigation is ongoing, Ms Edwards is calling for witnesses to provide any information that may help police make progress with the case.

"It all happened so quickly and after I was in complete shock," she said.

"I had minor injuries, a bleeding knee and bruises, and really bad back pain which turned out to be soft tissue damage.

"I just got up and wanted to get out of there, that is why I didn't take their number plate at the time."

Ms Edwards said she was signed off work for two weeks due to the pain.

She now wants a witness who was driving a dark red car that stopped at the scene and spoke to the driver of the 4x4 to come forward.

"The police have told me that Ernest Doe's CCTV isn't good enough to read the number plate, but he was a customer there. Surely they must know who he is," Ms Edwards added.

"Now I feel like the investigation has just gone really really quiet, so I hope someone can come forward."

A Suffolk police spokesman said officers are investigating the incident and have obtained CCTV, captured by Ernest Doe, which has been passed on to the Road Collision Support Team, which has since spoken to staff.

The spokesman said: "Police would like to trace the driver of the 4x4 regarding the incident and are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information about this incident, to contact the Road Collision Support Team at Suffolk police, quoting reference CAD 244 of August 16."
