A former Suffolk soldier who allowed his flat to be used for the supply of cocaine has been given a community order.

Brian Turnbull was arrested by police after they carried out a raid at his flat and found 17g of cocaine worth £1,500, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Christopher Wing, prosecuting, said 13 wraps of cocaine were also found in Turnbull’s car which was parked in Moulton Road, Newmarket.

He said that Turnbull told police he’d allowed his flat to be used for the supply of drugs by other people and had "turned a blind eye" to what was going on.

Turnbull, 36 of Hawick in Scotland, admitted possessing cocaine and allowing his premises to be used for the supply of drugs in 2020.

He was given an 18-month community order, a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a £100 fine.

Richard Kelly for Turnbull said his client had mental health issues and was at low risk of reoffending.
