Police have said they are investigating a similar incident following a break-in at a Co-op store in a west Suffolk town.
A spokesperson for Suffolk police said that officers were called at 2.30am to reports of an alarm going off at the store
Witnesses saw a vehicle driving off from the scene.
The front shutter of the shop had been cut to make an entrance to the building.
The investigation is ongoing, and there are no details if anything was stolen.
No arrests were made.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police later said: "We were made aware of the incident by Suffolk police due to a similar incident we had in St Ives at about 1.30am yesterday, Thursday."
It has not been confirmed that the incidents are linked.
A spokesperson for Co-op said of the Newmarket break-in: "We appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward to the police, who are investigating."
