A serious crash closed the A14 in both directions earlier today. 

Emergency services were at the scene of the crash near Newmarket on Tuesday morning.

National Highways confirmed the A14 is closed in both directions between Kentford and Exning due to the serious collision. 

The air ambulance was also called to the crash. 

Diversion routes were put in place, which were as follows:

Road users travelling westbound are being advised to exit the A14 at J39 Kentford and follow the B1506 through Kentford to the signalised junction with the A1304.

At the junction turn left and continue on the A1304 to the roundabout at the clock tower.

At the roundabout take the fourth exit and continue on the A142 to re-join the A14 westbound at J37 Exning.

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to exit the A14 at J37 Exning and follow the A142 into Newmarket.

At the clock tower turn left and follow the A1304 to the signalised junction with the B1506.

At the junction turn right and follow the B1506 through Kentford to rejoin the A14 eastbound at J39 Kentford.
