The owners of a Suffolk distillery will bring Stowmarket residents the best local spirits at their new bar when it launches next week.

Tom Mills and Ryan Luke, who took over the Heart of Suffolk Distillery, are now launching their own venue, joining Langams Café in the mid Suffolk town, to serve their best products. 

The family distillery was founded by husband-and-wife team Martyn and Karen Luke in February 2018, turning their dream into reality.

Langams Wine Bar by Heart of Suffolk Distillery, located in Market Place, will have the big launch of the wine and cocktail bar on Friday, September 1. 

Mr Mills said: "We’ll start from 5pm on Friday, serving our guests three mini cocktails on arrival. 

"Then we’ll welcome our first customers with meat and cheese boards, all from local suppliers, as well as other local foods. 

"Our idea for the bar is to serve drinks that are Suffolk-supplied. 

"All of the spirits are made by our distillery, which has been growing for the last few years, expanding from a small family business to a big enterprise.

"But we’re still very much in the kind of family backing. All our gins are named after family members. 

"We decided it is time to push them out wider into Suffolk, so we are opening the bar in Stowmarket as well as an event space next to our distillery."

The owners added that their goal in business is to expand their brand presence and also help local businesses. 

Mr Mills added: "We’re aiming to put lots of different local suppliers in our place and sell their products. 

"I think it's really good for local people to eat and drink local things.   

"We also want to give Stowmarket something extra that it doesn't already have."

The bar will be organising many community events, including live music evenings, game nights and weekly quizzes. 

The customers will also be able to meet the local suppliers and get to know their products.
