A town in the heart of the Waveney Valley has planned a series of events for one of England's biggest voluntary events.

Bungay Town Council is sponsoring a series of events in the town to run from September 9-10 as part of the Heritage Open Days.

The theme for the annual occasion is creativity unwrapped, and the council is labelling its event as Bungay Unwrapped.

One event will be a talk on the history of Roger Bigod about his role in the Magna Carta and the building of Bungay Castle (Bigod Castle).

There will be a display of the weapons the 2nd Earl used to defeat his enemies and a cooking exhibition to sample the food his army marched on.

Bungay Museum will be open and guests will have the opportunity to work with local artists Toto Martinez and James Mayhew to build a collage to represent Bungay’s history.

There will be tours available to see behind the town's historic Fisher Theatre and St Mary’s Church will exhibit its textile collection and there will be an opportunity for guests to climb the bell tower.
