A Suffolk town clean-up has started, with the community coming together to make the town look nicer ahead of tourists and summer events.

A group of residents from Framlingham came together to start de-weeding and tidying up some of the streets in the Town.

The group were chatting in a pub about the situation and thought that they should get on and do something about it, as they didn't know whose responsibility it was for the upkeep of the town.

Graham Coulter then posted to a Facebook community group to see if he could muster up some volunteers to help with the clean up.

He said: "We love our town and we want to make it look nice.

"It's a beautiful town, we all live here, and it was just starting to look a little bit unkempt."

The group started on Church Street, which is the street that connects Framlingham Castle and Market Hill, but, due to their being so much to do along the road, they couldn't complete it.

Mr Coulter continued: "We wanted to concentrate on the Market Hill area because it's a popular area.

"Lots of tourists come to the area, and we have a few big events coming up in Framlingham with the 10k run, and the Tour of Britain bike ride is coming through our town in September, so we wanted to make it look nice."

The group are set to meet again on Monday evening to continue the work for an hour, with hopes of more volunteers showing up to help make the town look nicer.
