What does a seafood restaurant in Southwold have in common with a bakery in Bury St Edmunds? They are both finalists in the Food Awards for 2023.

Eight places to eat in Suffolk have been named as finalists across many categories in this year's Food Awards for England.

There are two finalists in Bury St Edmunds. The Friendly Loaf is a finalist for Best Artisian Bakery in England, whilst Gastrono-Me is a finalist for Best World Cuisine (South).

Sole Bay Fish Company in Southwold is a finalist for Best Seafood Establishment (South).

Four cafes in Ipswich are finalsits for Bistro/Cafe of the Year (East). They are Bistro on the Quay, Bicafe O Portuguese, Cafe at the DanceHouse, and The Waterfront Bistro Ipswich.

Also in Ipswich, The Eatery @ Salthouse Harbour Hotel is a finalist for Reastaurant of the Year (East).

The winners for each category are voted for by the public, with voting now live on The Food Awards England Facebook page. 

The award ceremony will take place in Birmingham later this year.
