Wetherspoon has revealed it has pulled out of plans to build a new pub in a Suffolk seaside town.
It was announced in 2021 that the pub chain would invest £145million into its sites as they reopened after lockdown.
Part of the plans would see 18 new pubs open across the country, with one set in Felixstowe – where proposals for a new Wetherspoon had been in the works for years.
Proposals were given the go-ahead in 2020 to regenerate the old Central Surgery site in Hamilton Road, with community leaders describing the plans as the "best scheme" to date.
However, it can be revealed the vacant land is up for sale again, with the chain revealing it will no longer be building a pub.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "Wetherspoon can confirm that its site in Felixstowe has been put up for sale.
"Wetherspoon will no longer be developing a pub on the site.
"This is a commercial decision taken by the company."
The land where the pub was planned to be built is now being advertised for sale with Savills in London.
