A new health club is set to be built on the edge of Bury St Edmunds after plans were given the go-ahead.
David Lloyd Leisure Ltd has been granted permission from West Suffolk Council for a reserved matters application at the 2.01 hectare site off Sandlands Drive at Marham Park.
Plans, which were submitted in February, include the creation of a health, fitness and racquets club with a tennis dome enclosure and three tennis courts.
There will also be a Battle Box area, padel courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym and studio facilities, as well as a spa and children's soft play area.
The plans include a total of 225 car parking spaces and 20 cycle spaces.
The Bury St Edmunds Society, Fornham St Martin cum St Genevieve Parish Council, and several neighbours voiced support for the plans.
Granting permission for the site, a planning officer said: "The development would not adversely affect the character of the area, in what was always intended to be a mixed-use development and would not adversely affect visual amenity."
